CamerasPhotography, Video, and Filming Information

Amateur photography, video, and filming during the Museum’s normal operating hours are always welcome.  

Laws Railroad Museum and Historical Site charges a fee for any commercial photography, film, and video productions occurring on the Laws property. Please be advised that any videos you may take while at the Laws property and later post (in whole or in part) as content on a monetized YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook channel is a form of commercial film and video production subject to a fee.  

Private filming or photography outside of normal operating hours, such as dawn, dusk, or after dark, requires special permission from the Museum Administration or Board of Directors and payment in advance. 

Commercial photography and video or film shooting also requires special permission from the Museum Administration or the Board of Directors, if the activity will restrict the free movement of the general public through the exhibits or requires special sets of a temporary nature, or otherwise impacts the normal operations of the museum. Commercial photography or filming of any sort requires payment of non‐refundable fees to the Museum prior to start of any project. 

Use of any sort of aircraft such as drones, radio-controlled airplanes, helicopters, etc. are subject to rules and regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration due to our proximity of the Bishop Airport.

Laws Railroad Museum and Historical Site fees vary depending on the estimated hours and impact to the museum and are subject to change.

Required Inyo County permit  processing  information can be found at the Inyo County Film Commission, and the California Film Commission provides a schedule of State Permit and Monitor Fees.

 

Commercial Photography

Up to four (4) hours includes set up and take down $1,500.00

Additional time up to four (4) hours over the initial four hours will be charged $400.00 per hour. 

Damage Deposit (Refundable) $1,500.00

Commercial Photography requiring the museum to be close to the public. 

Up to four (4) hours includes set up and take down $2,500.00

Additional time up to four (4) hours over the initial four hours will be charged $400.00 per hour. 

Television/Video/Motion Pictures

Up to four (4) hours includes set up and take down:

1 – 60 People         $1,500.00

61- 150 People      $3,500.00

Additional time up to four (4) hours over the initial four hours will be charged $900.00 per hour.  Extended hours past initial eight (8) hours will be charged $1,200.00 per hour.

Damage Deposit (Refundable) $5,000.00
